About Oregon Green Schools

Oregon Green Schools is a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1997. We have over 25 regional coordinators throughout the state and nearly 200 participating schools.

Our regional coordinators help schools conduct waste audits, provide guidance and training for new programs and recommend curriculum resources and grant opportunities.

Our Mission:

Oregon Green Schools is dedicated to:

  • Helping Oregon Schools set up and maintain effective, permanent waste reduction and resource efficiency programs that improve school environments and communities.
  • Recognizing schools for their efforts and achievements

I can come out and do a variety of presentations and introduce the OGS program:

  • The Story of Stuff DVD, production/consumption/waste discussion
  • Recycling Basics, “talking trash”, how can we recycle at your school, picking up litter
  • Chemicals in the home, reading labels, making “green cleaners”
  • Getting started with the Oregon Green Schools program in YOUR school!
  • Composting: Nature’s Way of Recycling
  • Water & Energy conservation at school and at home
  • Green Living at school & at home, stuff/advertising/shopping/holidays

Right now, Mosier Community School is a certified Oregon Green School (through June 2009)

Need to be re-certified:

  • Bright Beginnings Preschool, HR
  • Hood River Middle School

I am working with the following schools for OGS:

  • Colonel Wright Elementary, The Dalles
  • Sherman Jr/Sr High School, Moro
  • South Sherman Elementary, Grass Valley
  • Horizon Christian, Hood River

I have made presentations this fall to:

  • The Dalles Middle School
  • Parkdale Elementary
  • Pine Grove Head Start
