Co-mingled category includes the following:
  • Newspapers, magazines, catalogs, junk mail, phone books, and cardboard tubes
  • Office paper, colored paper, notepads, letters, paper bags
  • Shredded paper in a bag (less mess)
  • Cereal and cracker-style boxes (flattened, liner removed)
  • Milk cartons and juice boxes (rinsed, discard lids)
  • Plastic bottles with a neck (rinsed, discard lids)…examples: water bottles, beverages, milk jugs, shampoo, detergents, cleanser.
  • Plastic tubs 6 oz. to 5 gallons in size (cleaned, discard lids)…examples: dairy products, cat litter, detergent.
  • Plant containers 4 inches and larger (cleaned)
  • Aluminum and tin cans (rinsed and flattened)
  • Clean aluminum foil
  • Empty aerosol cans (discard cap)

Please…NO clear “clamshells” or Styrofoam

Keep these items separate:
  • Glass bottles and jars (rinsed, discard lids)
  • Corrugated cardboard boxes (flattened)
What else?
  • Plastic bags…Take back to the grocery store for recycling
  • Make compost… fruit and vegetable scraps, paper towels & napkins, lawn clippings and leaves can amount to 20-25% of your garbage. Why not compost it, and use it on your home garden instead.
